Birthday Wishes with WOW

Hi this is Jenifer here with you today to share my project with the "glass" theme.  I couldn't get the idea of a stained glass window out of my head so that is what I tried to accomplish in my card.

Using a background stamp I embossed with with Primary Ebony.  Then using Twinkling H2O's and a paintbrush I colored in the ovals.  I love how it turned out :)  I also used the Everyday Sentiments stamp for the Birthday wishes embossed with Bodacious Blue and the little flower is the combination of Earthtone Grape, Presidio Purple and Berrylicious.
Here is a closeup of the design, doesn't it remind you a little bit like stained glass?

Thank you so much for looking at my project today.

Simple Bag-TOW/Blend fabrics

Hi this is Jenifer here with you today to share this lovely bag using some exquisite fabrics from Blend.  These fabrics are almost to lovely to cut into, but I finally did and I put together this simple bag.

Simple Bag by Jenifer Cowles

Fabrics from the Mariposa collection from Blend
Various trims from May Arts (optional)

Cutting instructions:  Cut out 1 piece of fabric for the back, 2 pieces of fabric for the lining, 1 piece of HeatNBond Fusible Fleece and 1 HeatNBond Craft Fusible 15"x16.5".  For the front cut out 3 pieces of fabric 5.5"x16.5".

Directions:  Sew the 3 5.5" pieces together so you will have 1 piece 15"x16.5".  Iron on the Therm O Web HeatnBond® Fusible Fleece and quilt as desired.  I just used my foot as a guide and quickly went back and forth.  After it is quilted you can apply any trims (optional).  Iron on the HeatNBond Craft Fusible to the wrong side of the back fabric.  Place right sides together and sew done the side, across the bottom and then back up the other side pivoting at the corners.  Do the same with the lining pieces but leave a 4" opening at the bottom.  Clip the corners at a diagonal, this will give you nice sharp corners.  Turn to the right side and poke out the corners.

Close up of the quilting.
Using a ruffling foot ruffle the twill till you get the desired length to go around the top of the bag.  Baste to the top of the bag.  For the strap cut 50" of Burlap Ribbon baste stitch them down centered at the side seams.  Place the tote inside the lining, right sides together, pinning around the top edge and stitch in place.  Turn the bag through the opening at the bottom of the bag, stuff the lining inside.  Top stitch along the top of the bag and you are done.

Back of the bag.

Thank you so much for looking at my project today, come back often for more projects from this amazing team.

Burlap Ribbon Treat bags-May Arts/Stampendous

Welcome to the May Arts Stampendous Swap.  For my project I created these little treat bags made from the 4" burlap ribbon  I took a 12" piece of ribbon and pulled out the wire, sew down 1/2" at each end, fold in half, sew the side seams.  Voila you now have a little burlap bag :)  String ribbon along the top to tie it shut and you are done.  Decorate as desired
I used one of the stamps from the Jumbo Pear set and stamped directly on the burlap.  Stampendous also sent this lovely mixed media kit that had glitters and some flock and chips along with some chipboard and adhesive so I choose the heart- applied the adhesive and some of the fine glitter and I was good to go.  Layer the ribbons and the glitter heart and you are done.

May Arts ribbons used
368 Faux Linen
398 4" Burlap
424-1/8" diag stripe
A478-Adhesive Scroll
And the lovely Sequin Adhesive hearts

Love Pillow-ThermOWeb

Hi this is Jenifer here with you today for a fun easy pillow tutorial that will only take a few hours.  I promise :)

Love Pillow by Jenifer CowlesSupplies:Assortment of Basic Grey Kissing booth collection (any scraps you have laying around)
1 yard for back and front
1 yard pom pom trim from May Arts (optional)
embroidery floss (optional)
Therm O Web HeatnBond® Lite Fusible applique
Therm O Web HeatnBond® fusible fleece
14" pillow form
Cutting instructions:Cut out 20 hearts from your Fabrics (approx.  you may have different sized hearts and need more or less.) 2-15″x15″ squares of the white fabric for the front and back Directions:  If you are using the Kissing booth collection from Basic Grey the hearts are already on the fabric, all I had to do is apply the Therm O Web HeatnBond® Lite Fusible  and cut out the hearts.  If you are using scraps get a heart you like, draw it on the Therm O Web HeatnBond® Lite Fusible adhere it to your fabric and cut it out.

Using a fabric pen draw a large heart on the white background.  Fill in as desired with the hearts you cut out in the step above.  When you have it the way you like adhere the hearts to the background and sew them down.  I used a small zig zag stitch but you can use any stitch you like.  After all of the hearts are sewn down then go around the large heart with some embroidery floss to make the large heart stand out, and write love in the corner.  Embroidery is optional you could also go around the heart with a stitch on your machine.  Before quilting adhere the Therm O Web HeatnBond® fusible fleece to the back and do some quick quilt stitching and now you are ready to assemble.

Baste your pom pom trim (optional) to the 15x15 square.  Sew the 2 15x15 squares together leaving an opening to insert your pillow form then hand stitch the opening closed.  Done.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial today, stop by again tomorrow for more wonderful work from this very talented design team.

Valentines Altered Book-TOW/Authentique

Hi this is Jenifer here with you today to share my Authentique project with you.  I love this smitten line by Authentique and have created several projects with it the last couple of weeks but I think this one is my favorite.

Valentine altered book by Jenifer Cowles
Authentique Smitten Collection:
Old book with good covers
Doilies and key: Curtsey Boutique
All ribbons: May Arts
Other: Paint, Spackle
Cover:  Apply a thin layer of Spackle to the front and back cover of your book.  Spray with pink Glitter dust to give it that little bit of extra sparkle.  Go around the edges with some ink.  To make the 3-D heart punch out several hearts, fold them in half and using a glue stick, glue one half to another half till you have several glued together.  Layer a heart doily, 3-D heart and ribbons till you have your desired cover.

Here is a sneak of the book slightly open with all of the fun goodies showing.
Page 1:  Heart Doily. Authentique sticker with foam dots to give dimension.

Page 2:  Using a craft knife cut out a large heart making sure you do not cut all the way to the edges. This "page" is about 25 pages.  Take half the pages and adhere a transparent page the back of one page using a glue stick glue 3 more pages together and then another transparent page.  Before you adhere the transparent sections together punch out some heart confetti, glitter and one of the cute postage stamps and put it between the pages.  You now have a small shaker box.  Add embellishments.

Page 3: Using a craft knife cut out a medium heart through your next set of pages.  Apply your embellishments.
Page 4:  Using a craft knife cut out a slightly smaller heart through your next set of pages.  Half way through your set of pages adhere a piece of bakers twine down the center of your heart.  This is where the sequins heart will rest.  Apply your embellishments.

Page 5:  Using a craft knife cut out a slightly smaller heart through your next set of pages.  Apply your embellishments.
Page 6: Using a craft knife cut out a slightly smaller heart through your next set of pages.  Apply your embellishments.

Page 7: Using a craft knife cut out your smallest heart through your last set of pages.  Using the same technique as page 2 apply a slightly transparent paper such as vellum through the center of your pages, so the cute sticker can be seen on your last page. Apply your embellishments.

Back Page:  Adhere another heart doily and an adorable sticker using foam squares.  Apply your embellishments.

Back Cover:  Embellish as desired.

** Notes** There is a little bit of prep time involved getting your book ready to be decorated.  Take out about half of the pages.  The Super stick glue sticks work wonderful when gluing the book pages together.  When I had everything in place the way I wanted it I went back through the book and applied some paints and some more Spackle (just using my finger).  When everything was dry I then did all my little detail work with a fine point black pen.  Just remember there is no wrong way to do this and just have fun.

Thank you so much for checking out my project today, make sure you stop by the rest of the week for the rest of our Authentique swap.
